BIOGRAPHY
Jenny Nordquist (b. 1977) is a photo-based visual artist, she was born in Sweden,
lived for 12 year in London and is now based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
She received a Masters of Image and Communication at Goldsmiths University in 2004.
Previously she has gained a BA Hons Photography at London College of Printing.
In her large-scale photographic works, Jenny examines both private and public space.
She has previously produced a body of work about traditional Swedish dance halls
and in her series Alminde, we learned about the life of a woman who didn't
place high value on possessions or appearances.
All spaces in Jenny's images are photographed empty to force the spectator
to investigate the space, the lines of the architecture and the arrangements of furniture.
The emptiness allows us to notice all the small objects that create these odd
and captivating spaces. The buildings in Jenny's photographs tell us something about the needs,
imperatives and values of those who use them.
Jenny's work has been exhibited in galleries such as Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art in Sunderland,
Rotterdam Kunsthal in the Netherlands, Brighton Photo Fringe and Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Denmark.
